smartdiary · runs on your machine
Write it down. Watch it come back.
Nothing leaves.
One book, one way to write in it, and activities you tag as you go — with a chat that writes the day down for you and answers from your own words, never a summary of them.
In short
Write the day down and tag what you did. Companions answer from what you have actually written, and mentors hold you to the goals you set out loud — with the countable part counted in code, never estimated by a model. All of it stays here.
01 Talk
Just write.
The day writes itself down.
The app opens on a chat that is both the way to ask and the way most writing happens. Anything you report goes into today's entry in your own words, tagged with whatever activity it named — a gym session, a sit, an hour of cooking. Ask instead, and it answers from what you have written.
- Never invisible What was written appears as a chip under the message that wrote it, with the activity it tagged.
- Your call Auto, write it down, or just talk — three buttons, for when you would rather decide.
02 One book
A day is a day.
Not five diaries.
One timeline, one way to write an entry. What a day was about comes from the activities tagged on it, not from which log you filed it in — so a morning with a run, a meal and a hard meeting in it is one entry, the way it actually was.
- Yours to define Activities start empty. Name the ones you want counted, give them a colour and a usual length, and tag them with the minutes they really took.
- Patterns Your most-tagged activities over four weeks as days and minutes, time by category, mood over thirty days, a writing heatmap.
03 Mentors
Goals you said out loud,
counted rather than guessed.
A fitness coach that checks whether three sessions a week happened. A mobility keeper that adds up the stretching minutes. A burnout watch that says so before the crash. Each writes a check-in on its own cadence with a coarse verdict and the evidence behind it.
- Counted in code A goal naming one of your activities counts the days it was tagged, or the minutes — in Go, handed to the model as fact it is told not to recompute.
- Auditable Settings has a box: type a question, see the exact text a companion would be given before answering it.

Light and dark, following the system. The screenshots are the app itself, not renderings.
Try it
The interface, in your browser.
The demo is the real interface with a sample diary and canned answers in place of the model. It opens unlocked; the real app opens on the lock. Everything you do in it stays in this tab and is gone when you close it.
Under the hood
On your machine. Only on your machine.
Qwen3.5 9B, Q4_K_M — the 4B on machines the 9B would not fit. Shared with smartreader and smartwriter.
One local file, sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305 under a key only your password unwraps; Argon2id on your machine, never stored, never recoverable by anyone.
Remembering a device stores the file's key in your OS keychain — never the password.
None. No account, no sync, no sharing, no cloud provider. The app works with the network off, and has nothing to say to it on.
The full documentation covers formats, storage, every setting and every environment variable: read the smartdiary docs. Or read how the shared model runtime works.
How it works
From download to first answer in minutes.
- 01
Install
Download the .dmg or the Windows installer.
- 02
Set a password
It encrypts everything the app keeps. Nothing about it leaves your machine, which is also why nobody can reset it.
- 03
First run
The engine and the weights are fetched once into the shared store — or found there.
- 04
Write
Everything after that is offline.
Download
Take it home.
Free. No account, no telemetry. The model is not in the installer — the app fetches it once, into the store every kumulativ app shares.
